Sandy Kratz, 63, of Park View, IA, died Monday, January 16, 2017 at Bettendorf Health Care Center. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial gathering will be held at 10:00am on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2632 Brady Street, Davenport, IA, with the funeral to follow at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Sandy was born May 13th, 1953 in Moline, IL to Clinton and Beverly Sheesley. She married Keith Adams on November 22, 1975. She later married Wayne Claude Kratz on December 22, 2001 in Davenport. Sandy earned her diploma from Moline High School, her BA from Augustana College, and her Masters in Education from Drake University, Des Moines. She taught science, biology, physiology and zoology for 34 years at Walcott Jr. HS, Sudlow Junior High, Williams Intermediate, and Davenport Central HS, retiring in 2009.

Her memberships included St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport Education Association, Iowa Education Association, and the National Education Association, of which she was a delegate to both the State and National Assemblies. She loved boating, fishing, animals, and all things outdoors, and held a long-lasting affection for both the Chicago Cubs and science fiction movies.

Survivors include her husband Wayne; mother Beverly Sheesley of Moline, IL; sons Joshua Adams of Coal Valley, and Beau Adams of Bettendorf; sisters Debbie McFarland of Moline, and Sue (Chris) Hammerberg of Upper Arlington, OH; step-daughter Jessie Kratz of Washington DC, step-son Eric (Tracy) Kratz of northern Rhode Island; grandson Benjamin Adams; step-grandsons Ivan and Levi Kratz; nieces Kayla Hammerberg of Charlotte, NC and Ashley McFarland, Moline; nephew Ethan Hammerberg of Upper Arlington; and step-mother Barbara Sheesley of AZ. She was preceded in death by her father.
