Otto Albert Bieber, age 94, of Davenport, Iowa passed away peacefully on February 27, 2017.

Otto was born in April of 1922 in Mott, North Dakota to John and Katherine Bieber, and he graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in 1949 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1954, and worked as an IRS Agent, a comptroller at the Rock Island Arsenal and owned and operated his own CPA firm from 1962 to 2005. He was a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the Iowa Society of CPAs.

Otto became the husband of Corinne Lense on June 11 of 1949, and they had three children who loved him dearly, especially for his patience and wry smile. Otto worked 10-12 hour days during tax season, and when it was over, he played hard. He loved trips to northern Minnesota with fishing buddies from church, was a Pinochle shark that seemed to always be on the winning side, and had a hobby farm with an oversized organic garden where he raised sweet corn, beans, tomatoes, rhubarb, watermelon, apples, pears and even peaches.

Otto was a wise father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by children Jacque L. Bieber, Paul J. (Kathy) Bieber and Jane E. (Andrew) Trasowech; nine grandchildren Kim (James) Lohmer, Noah (Kristin) Bieber, Ali Oswalt, Luke and Elly Bieber, Will, Nate, Joelle and Dan Trasowech; great-grandchildren Emily Bieber and John Otto Lohmer; nephew Leonard Lense; and sister-in-law LaVerne Lense.

Otto was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by those who have preceded him in death, including his wife, Corinne; parents John and Katherine Bieber; brothers Ed, Huns, Art and Herbert; sisters Anna, Frieda, Bertha, Hilda and Martha; granddaughter Abigail Jane Bieber; and son-in-law James F. Mossman.

The visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm Thursday March 2nd at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. According to Otto’s wishes, cremation will follow the visitation and memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 3rd at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1122 West Central Park, Davenport. The family invites all to join them for a luncheon to follow at the church. Private interment will be held at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Lutheran Family Services of Iowa.
