Howard L. Keeney, 78, of Eldridge, Iowa, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Genesis West, Davenport. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10 am Monday, March 6th at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 775 E. LeClaire Road, Eldridge, with Pastor Scott Pearson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Howard was born November 13, 1938 in Lucas County, Iowa to Harold L. and E. Irene Keeney. He married Leilana Welchman on July 26, 1957 in Davenport.

Howard lived the majority of his life in the Davenport area. He went into the floor covering business after being discharged from two years active duty in the U.S. Navy. He served six years in the Navy reserve. Howard was Vice President and part owner of Northwest Carpet One in Davenport from 1974 to 2001. He served on the Trustee Board of Cornerstone Baptist Church for 25 years. He loved his family, friends, and enjoyed camping. He was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his wife, Leilana Keeney of Eldridge; his son, LaVerne (Felicia) Keeney of AZ; daughters, Deborah (Larry) Anderson of Bettendorf, IA, Sheryl (Bill) Wilford of Eldridge, IA and Christine Noel of Eldridge, IA; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; stepbrother, Dale (Julie) Beaver of Johnston, IA; stepsisters, Jeanine (Tony) Caponigro of Ankeny, IA and Colleen (Terry) Pool of Olathe, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Vernon G. Keeney and step-father, Paul D. Beaver.

He will be greatly missed by those who knew him and loved him.
