Arthur “Mac” MacKusick, 81, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 at his home. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am Monday, March 27th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. His family will greet friends from 9 am until time of service. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois where military honors will be presented by Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 299. Memorials may be made to K9 Kindness Rescue, Inc.

Mac was born in 1935 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Arthur and Elizabeth MacKusick. In June 1957, he graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The following week, on June 15, 1957, he married Patricia Tyler at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. He retired as a Lt. Colonel after 29 years with the U.S. Army, having served at various posts in the United States as well as Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Germany. Mac was a student of military history and an avid reader. He also enjoyed gardening, trap shooting, golfing and his many dogs over the years.

Survivors include his wife Patricia; daughters Joanne Moeller of Altoona, IA and Lynne (Chris) Tabb of Silvercliff, CO; son David (Carol) MacKusick of Sapphire, NC; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister Mary (Tom) Graham of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter Audrey Wenger.
