Donald E. Turner, 87, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Friday morning, March 24th, 2017 at Genesis Silvis, Illinois. Services in celebration of his life will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, March 28th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be held 4-7:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, Illinois where military honors will be presented by American Legion Post 26, Davenport.

Mr. Turner was born in 1929 in Hazard, Kentucky to Fred and Mable Turner. He married Marianne M. Villa on September 18, 1952 in Germany. She preceded him in death November 30, 2000. He married Galina Papanikolaou
on November 23, 2010 in Bettendorf, Iowa, who survives. On December 27, 1960 he entered the US Army. For 26 years, he served as an Army officer until his retirement in 1976. Beginning in 1978, and for the next 10 years, he owned Apollo Disco in Davenport, Iowa, which was later renamed Beethoven’s. He was a member of the NRA, Oak Hills Shooting Club, Arrowhead Hunting and Conservation Club, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and Schutzen Verine (Davenport Shooting Club).

In addition to his wife Galina, he is survived by daughters Mary Chun of Mexico and Denise (Mark) Wise of Bettendorf, IA; son Donald Turner of Mexico; step-son Oleg Sabinin of Moscow, Russia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Emma, a brother Billy and their parents.
