Carrie B. Chambers, 95, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at Manor Care, Davenport. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, April 14th at Weerts Funeral Home, 3625 Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport where her family will greet friends from 9:30 am until time of service. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.

Mrs. Carrie was born in Winston County, Mississippi in 1922 to Oliver and Evalena Gales. In 1954 Mrs. Carrie married her beloved husband, Gifford Chambers. Mrs. Carrie and her husband relocated from Mississippi to Davenport, Iowa in 1968. Mrs. Carrie worked at the LeClaire Hotel in Moline, IL for many years. Mrs. Carrie loved to attend church and she loved to sing in the choir. She loved her King Jesus. Mrs. Carrie loved to cook, and she had a special love for baking cakes and pies. One of her specialties was caramel cake. It was so delicious, many people would send a special request for her to bake one for them. She loved to go on long walks, especially though VanderVeer Park, long talks, prayers and singing her favorite church hymns, to fish, garden, baseball, wrestling, soap operas (The Young and the Restless) and loved her dog Ricky of many years. Mrs. Carrie’s smile, laughter and joy will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Carrie gave birth to six children, five boys and one girl; L. C. Gales, Charles William Gales, Ro Lee Gales, Gifford Earl Chambers, L.J. Chambers and Peggy Sue Clark. Mrs. Carrie has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and ten siblings.
