Elayne D. Lyons, 87, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Mass of Christian Burial and funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 3rd at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 916 E. Rusholme St., Davenport, with Fr. Anthony Herold presiding. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday May 2nd, at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.

Elayne was born in 1929 in Davenport, Iowa to Sebastian and Mabel Werthmann. She married Larry Lyons on October 4, 1952 in Davenport. Her vocation in life was her family. She worked as a bookkeeper, raised ten children, then in 1967, she helped her husband Larry establish Lyons Insurance Service which still serves clients today. She enjoyed flower gardening, was an avid vegetable gardener and canner, horses, sewing, planning fishing trips with Larry and her family, long car rides, Gospel music and country music, doing jigsaw puzzles, baking cookies and pies, and planning the annual Christmas Eve gatherings.

Survivors include her husband Larry; their children Christopher (Sheryl) Lyons of Davenport, IA, Maria (Gary) Schroeder of Belden, MS, Carla (Steve) Zuhlsdorf of Box Elder, SD, Peter (Sue) Lyons of Davenport, IA, Daniel (Sandy) Lyons of Winchester, VA, Laura (Bruce) Calkins of Davenport, IA, Anna (Hal) Walsh of Wheaton, IL, Felicia (John) Klueck of Appleton, WI, Paul (Kellie) Lyons of Davenport, IA, and Anita (Nathan) Gorzney of Davenport; 26 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and her siblings: Joan Hostens of Davenport, IA, Bernard Werthmann of Davenport, Roger (Marilyn) Werthmann of AZ, Jerome (Betty) Werthmann of Davenport, Barbara (Julius) McCormick of FL, Geraldine Kruesch of OH and Madonna (Donald) Nelson of Davenport. She was preceded in death by a grandson Jonathan Schroeder, a brother Leon Werthmann and a sister Mary Crews.
