Ron LaMar, 57, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died suddenly Thursday, May 4, 2017 at UnityPoint Trinity, Bettendorf. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2 - 5 pm Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation or to his family.

Ron was born in 1959 in Iowa to Ronald and Mary LaMar. He married Sharon Schilt, the love of his life, on May 23, 1981 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa. He worked as a Journeyman Electrician out of IBEW local 145. He was employed as a foreman at Davenport Electric and Tri-City Electric. He then worked for the City of Moline as their Traffic Operations Specialist. He took great pride in his work and loved his career. After retiring in 2008, due to his illness, he found joy in his hobbies which included welding, woodworking, taking care of his lawn, fishing, and barbecuing meals for friends and family. Many referred to him as the grill master. He also loved his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle and the road trips he took with his riding buddies. Even more important to his happiness were his children and grandchildren. He had a very special bond with his granddaughter, Ava. His happiest moments in life were gathering the whole family together for a meal.

Survivors include his beloved wife Sharon, whom he loved more than anything; son Adam LaMar of Bettendorf; daughter Lauren (Michael) Crane of Davenport; grandchildren Ava LaMar, Gabriel Crane and Jackson Crane; his father Ronald F. LaMar of Bettendorf; sisters Debe LaMar and Sandy LaMar, both of Bettendorf; and his parents-in-law Marvin and Dolores Schilt of North Prairie, WI. Also, many close cherished friends. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Mary.
