John E. Moorhead, 64, of Eldridge, Iowa, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 4th 2017 at his home. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 6 pm Monday, May 8th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 3 pm until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the John Moorhead Grandchildren’s Education fund.
John was born in 1952 in Davenport, Iowa to Russel and Eda Belle Moorhead. He married Helen D. Stratton on May 25th, 1974 in Rock Island, IL. A graduate of the University of Iowa, he was a Certified Public Accountant and partner with Moorhead & Petersen for 36 years then continuing his career since 2012 on his own at John E. Moorhead, CPA LLC. His memberships included the Quad City Estate Planning Council, The Iowa & Illinois Society of CPAs, University of Iowa Alumni, Davenport Moose, The Boy Scouts of America (which he attained the rank of Eagle Scout) and he was a founding member of the Sandspoon Country Club. John was very creative with home repairs and enjoyed golf, reading, doing yard work, following the Hawkeyes and especially his time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Helen; daughter Denise (Scott) Kepner of Bettendorf and West Des Moines; son Tom (Emily) Moorhead of Ankeny, IA; grandchildren Corea Conner, Jayden Conner, Max Moorhead, Brittany Kepner of West Des Moines and Stephanie Kepner of Glenn Ellen, IL; sister Nancy (Lois) Moorhead of Des Moines; and brother Don (Sue) Moorhead of Davenport, IA and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
