He was stationed in Munich, Germany. After his honorable discharge, he earned his Associates Degree in Applied Sciences and Computer Programming in 1968. On November 18, 1967 he married Shirley Reitemeyer in Davenport. He first worked as a Computer Programmer/Analyst for First Federal Savings and Loan in Davenport for 24 years and then for Star Forms, John Deere’s Y2K project, Montgomery Elevator/Kone, R & G Telephone and iWireless.

He was a member of St Mark Lutheran Church until his marriage when he transferred to St Paul Lutheran Church. He was also a member and Past Master of Fraternal Lodge #221 A.F. and A.M., Mohassan Grotto, the Muny Golf League at Emeis Park. Dale ushered at St Paul for over 40 years and helped build some of the cabins at Camp Shalom. Dale enjoyed volunteering for the Miss Iowa Organization for over 20 years; the Bix registration and starting line, he marshalled for the John Deere Classic, for 5 years he did visits for the Red Cross for local home fires and a 2-week followup for hurricane Sandy and is the treasurer for DARE. He enjoyed playing, watching and attending golf tournaments, including the Arnold Palmer Invitation Tournament in 2013. Dale and Shirley loved to travel. They had visited 43 State Capitols, Washington, D.C., 10 Presidential Libraries, 3 Space Shuttles, over 20 National Parks and many trips to WDW.

Dale was an avid Hawkeye fan and loved Hawkeye football, basketball and wrestling. He attended several Bowl Games, including the 2005 Capitol One Bowl with Brian and they witnessed “The Catch” together.

Dale loved being a Grandpa, watching them play and laugh. He loved having Evan read to him and letting Evan "help" with projects around Brian and Emily's house.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years Shirley; and son Brian (Emily) Dose and his grandchildren Evan(6½) and Leah(2) of Coralville. He was preceded in death by his parents.

We want to thank the nurses at Genesis West Oncology for their constant care, support and compassion. They are angels on earth.
