Carl D. Estell, 71, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 19th, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Mass of Christian Burial and funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Monday, June 26th at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4097 18th St., Bettendorf, with Fr. Ross Epping officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-4:00 pm Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, and from 9:30 am until time of service Monday at the church. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Carl was born in 1945 in Aberdeen, MS to Henry and Alma Estell. He married Beverly A. Shackelford on September 5, 1970 in Rock Island, IL. During the Vietnam era, he served with the U.S. Army. He was a power house mechanic for Sivyer Steel, Bettendorf for 32 years, retiring in 2000. He also enjoyed working in his garage.
Survivors include his wife Beverly; daughter Ann (Leroy) Pianka; son Darin Carl (Barbara) Estell; grandchildren Andy Lopez, Bella (Scott Boersma) Lopez, David Proksch, Michael (Andrea) Proksch, and Jacob (Samantha Paxston) Proksch; great-grandchildren Donald Boersma, Elliot, Stella, and Joel Proksch, Hailey Debord and Oakley Proksch; and sisters Mary Ann Estell and Betty Sue Leach. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
