Richard L. Lassiter, 74, of Princeton, Iowa, passed away Wed., July 5th, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting his family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or to DAV Charitable Service Trust (3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076). A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Mr. Lassiter was born in 1942 in Webb City, Missouri to William and Cleo Lassiter. He served with the U.S. Air Force. On December 6, 1968 he married Margaret Kernan in Bettendorf, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 2000. For 33 years, he worked as a welder, from which he retired. Being an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and Mississippi Valley Sportsmen. He also enjoyed time with his grandchildren and a good round of golf
Survivors include his sons Jeff Lassiter and Terry (Laura) Lassiter; daughter Kelly (Mark) McCollough; grandchildren Maggie and Julia McCollough, and Jaisa, Hunter and Olivia Lassiter; and all of his hunting and golfing buddies. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Foxy, and brother Tom.
