Cheryl A. Young, 65, of Bettendorf, IA died Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her home with family. Memorial celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am Friday, September 29, 2017 at Redeemer Lutheran church, 1107 Tanglefoot Lane, Bettendorf with Rev. Richard Pokora officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Redeemer Lutheran church or Lustgarten Foundation – Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Mrs. Young was born February 18, 1952 in Clarinda Iowa to Dallas R. and Dorothy M. Veak. She retired from Lincoln Electric/Vizient while serving in human resources. Mrs. Young had a love for life and faith. She had a contagious laugh that filled the room. She loved gardening and tending her flowers. She enjoyed feeding the birds. She also enjoyed exercising, particularly Jazzersize and Zumba. She was a team leader of the church Alter Guild. One of her greatest joys was being able to spend time with her family and friends.
On June 11, 1995 she married Steve Young in Bettendorf Iowa.
Survivors include her husband Steve; daughter Lindsey (Patrick) Farley and son Ryan Scott, both of Minneapolis, MN; step-daughters Jennifer (Mike) Cady and Bridgett (Jeff) Martorana, both of Rockford, IL, and Rachel (Dan) Mroz of Loves Park, IL; grandchildren Maegan Cady, Michael Cady, Jonathan Cady, Joseph Mroz, Max Mroz, Elizabeth Mroz, Jacob Martorana and Joshua Martorana; sister Shirley (Perry) Grinstead and nephew Calvin Erikson, both of Red Oak, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brothers Jon Veak and Dean Veak.
