Coach Roger E. Harrington, 83, of Davenport, IA, passed away Thursday, Sept. 28th, 2017 at Crest Health Center, Ridgecrest Village, Davenport. Memorial visitation will be held from 1-5 pm Sunday at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Private services will be held Monday. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Coach was born 1934 in Mason City, IA to Kenneth C. and Ethel Harrington. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On August 30, 1988 he married Barbara Ann Lee in Kahoka, MO. With a passion for football and coaching, he made his career coaching football at West High School, Davenport from 1971 – 1988. He was honored with earning two Class 4A State Championships and was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame. Most recently (2017) he was inducted into the Davenport School District Ring of Honor. He also enjoyed his RV time with his family.

Survivors include his wife “Bobbi”, a resident at Ridgecrest Village; children: Jo Lynn Evans of Nevada, Jim Evans of CA, Robert (Marcie) Evans of SD, Monte (Lisa) Harrington of Davenport, Troy (Nancy) Harrington of Lexington, KY, Aimee Brown of Davenport, Doree (Shane) Henderson of Des Moines, and Ben Harrington of Port Byron, IL; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister Carol Norman of CO. He was preceded in death by his parents.
