Virginia was born on August 7, 1928 to Herman and Norma Brown in Bellevue, Iowa. She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1946. She graduated from AIC School of Business, where she met her future husband. On November 7, 1948, she was united in marriage to Wallace Groth, he passed away in 2009. After their three children were grown, Virginia worked for Sears as a retail salesperson for many years. She loved to spend her free time knitting, doing needle work, putting together jigsaw puzzles, solving word puzzles, and watching Iowa Hawkeye Basketball and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.

She is survived by her three children: Ronald (Connie) Groth, Deborah (Richard) Gilbert, and Cynthia (Steve Jugenheimer) Daughtery; five grandchildren: Ryan Groth, Nicholas (Amy) Groth, Brent Daughtery, Bryon (Janessa) Gilbert, and Neal (Joanna) Gilbert; four great-grandchildren: Gabe and Eli Groth, and Alex and Austin Daughtery; sister Aljean Crist; and brother Vernon Brown.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Wallace, her parents, two sisters: Janis Yarolim and Emma Louise Brown; and her brother Arnold Brown.
A special thank you to the staff at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House for their loving support.
