Betty A. Kennedy, 80, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, November 28th at the Davenport Lutheran Home with her loving family by her side. Per Betty’s request, private family services will be held. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to the American Humane Society.

Betty was born on May 19, 1937 to Lester and Lois Ritter in Ava, Missouri. She graduated from Leeton High School. Betty married the love of her life, Jerry D. Kennedy, on July 25, 1955; he passed away in 1992. She worked in shipping and receiving at Younkers for 20 years. During her free time she loved to camp, fish, and hike. She was a true adventurer, traveling the United States with her family in their motorhome. Most of all she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, hosting family celebrations for birthdays, holidays, and everything in between.

She is survived by her children: Deanna and Bruce Tharp, their daughters Nicole and Diana; Rhonda and Scott Stevenson their son Jeremy; Daniel Kennedy; Nancy Kennedy and Frank Heston, son Kevin; Jay and Belinda Kennedy their son Ryan; great- grandson Ryder James Kennedy; and Mindy and Tony Carter, their children Allison and Sean; extended family Frank Heston, Jr, Kory Heston, Mackenzie Heston, Gage Heston, and Scott Renner; siblings Mason Ritter, Wanda Bradley, and Robert Ritter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, and a granddaughter.
