Ray L. Schledewitz, 86, of Yuma, AZ, formerly of Buffalo, IA, passed away Thursday, November 23rd, 2017 in Yuma. Services in celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am Monday, December 4th at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport, where his family will greet friends from 9:30 am until time of service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Buffalo IA, of which he and his wife were long time members, or to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation.
Mr. Schledwitz was born in 1930 in Culbertson, Montana to Dan and Ella Schledewitz. He served with the U.S. Army from 1952- 1955. On November 9, 1952 he married Eva Mattingley in Bainville, Montana. She preceded him in death April 16, 2003. He worked as a mechanic for the Scott County Jail for over 20 years and from which he retired in 1994.
Survivors include daughters Cynthia Schledewitz and Katy Tupper, both of Yuma, AZ; sons Clay L. (Carol) Schledewitz of Alaska and Craig L. (Shari) Schledewitz of Davenport, IA; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Lorina (Pete) Hekkel of Culbertson, MT and Ila Mae (Clayton) Mattingley of Seattle, WA; and brother Dave (Dorothy) Schledewitz of Culbertson, Mt. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a grandson Joshua Johnson.
