John Andrew Bellendier, 66, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 28th, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf after a courageous 4 years battle with cancer. Memorial services in celebration of his life will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to the family.

John was born in 1951 in Dubuque, Iowa to Jacqueline and Andrew Bellendier. During his high school years in Oelwein and Maquoketa he was an outstanding and legendary basketball player. John attended the University of Iowa where he studied history. He married Connie McDonald on September 24, 1977 in Maquoketa. He worked as a sales representative for food brokerage firms for 30 years, from which he retired in 2016. John was a tremendous role model for his sons while coaching various baseball and basketball teams for many years. John was also active as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 203 of Long Grove, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife Connie; sons Adam J. (Heather Williams) Bellendier of Anchorage, Alaska and Aric J. (Stacy Kelly) Bellendier of Davenport, Iowa; granddaughter Layla M. Bellendier of Davenport, Iowa; sisters Lynne (Pat) Frank of Davenport, Iowa, Marcia Bellendier of Iowa City, Iowa, Ann (Steve) Ambrozi of Bettendorf, Iowa; and brother Michael (Jean) Bellendier of Davenport, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, David Bellendier. He was a wonderful Father and Grandfather that will be missed dearly.
