Funeral services for Bob L. Smith, 89, of Bettendorf, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 7, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1107 Tanglefoot Lane, Bettendorf. Pastor John Grebner will officiate. Visitation is Wednesday, in the church gathering space, from 9:30 a.m. till service time.
Burial is at Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Weerts Funeral Home is assisting with the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Bob passed away on Saturday February 3rd at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

He was born in 1928 in Caney, KS. the son of Adam Ray and Velma Mary Smith. He was united in marriage to Betty F. Ressler on November 24, 1962 in Waverly, IA. He graduated from the University of Kansas and was employed by ALCOA as a mechanical engineer for 38 years at Riverdale, IA and Pittsburgh, PA. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed traveling with Betty, visiting their grandchildren, playing card games and was an avid golfer.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving on the Church Council and Finance Committee.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife Betty; children: Greg (Kara) Smith, Davenport and Sara Frerichs, Spirit Lake, IA; grandchildren: Reilly and Claire Smith, Davenport and Jenna and Luke Frerichs, Spirit Lake; and one sister, Marjorie Jane Shannon, LaCrosse, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Lucy Smith, Pasadena, TX and brother-in-law, Kenneth Shannon.
